Nutritional Evaluations

Nutritional deficiency and chronic degenerative changes have become common in this modern world.  Due to increased stress, a diet that no longer resembles what our genetic coding was designed to utilize and toxic exposure that exceeds normal abilities, nutrition therapy has developed as a way to support the human in today’s landscape.

Dietary Assessment

A patient’s nutritional status can be evaluated by using and integrating information obtained from a past medical history, family history and a social history. It is worthwhile to assess the nutritional status of every patient. Many complaints such as fatigue, headaches, and digestive disturbances can be improved by simple changes in diet. Nutrition also plays a pivotal role in prevention. Nutritional assessment becomes especially important when the patient has certain nutritional “red flags”, such as:

  • Elderly
  • No regular exercise regime and/or sedentary lifestyle
  • Recent loss of 10% or more of usual body weight
  • Alcoholism
  • Taking drugs such as steroids, immunosuppressant’s
  • Infection, protracted fever, trauma

 

We are pleased to offer comprehensive nutritional evaluation and corrective recommendations, including supplements and gradual diet modification, to assist in adapting to this world.  We find immediate increase in vitality and joy as the primary motive for undertaking this therapy.  It is also noted that almost all of our physical conditions respond and may even resolve with specific nutritional support.

We started a tradition when our doors first opened in 2007 of doing introductions at the beginning of each class – a tradition which has been adopted by CrossFit gyms all over the country. Because we have created an inclusive environment, our members all know each other, support one another, and socialize in (i.e. at our quarterly Taco Socials) and outside of the gym. CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity. At ShapeForce, you will not find any machines – instead, you will find kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls, sleds, and tons of open space for running, jumping, climbing, lifting, and throwing. The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and a CrossFit veteran can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity.
